Iraqi Army fighting back against ISIS

The Iraqi Army is slowing the advance of Islamic militants with an operation in the city of Udhaim, north of Baghdad.

The country's defense ministry said Sunday that the army killed a number of radical Sunni militants and destroyed vehicles in Udhaim.

Iraqi government forces are trying to slow the advance of ISIS militants, who have captured areas of north and west Iraq. Residents said they welcomed the army's presence.

Meanwhile in the capital, thousands of Iraqi Shiite Muslims headed to training centers the same day to join the fight against the militants after a call to arms.
