Marenisco native shot and killed in encounter with Minneapolis police

Marenisco native Chaz Havenor was shot and killed by police Thursday outside a day care center in Ramsey, Minnesota.

According to the Star Tribune's article, officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot near the day care facility in Ramsey Thursday afternoon.

An officer approached the vehicle, spoke with the three occupants inside and asked one to get out.

The 21-year-old Havenor fled on foot across the parking lot and the officers chased him for about 75 feet.

Havenor turned and pointed a handgun at them and both officers fired, striking Havenor. He died 30 minutes later.

Havenor's Facebook page says he was currently residing in Marquette before the shooting.
