A bicycling world traveler made a stop in Marquette recently. Nando Padros is making his way through the U.S. on his way to South America. Originally from Catalonia, Spain, he spent four years biking across Africa. His recent trek started in New York City and took him through Canada, eventually biking across the U.P. on his way to the southwest. His goal is to meet and help those who are less fortunate. To do that, he has set up Project Gambada, a Website that tracks his progress and allows for people to make donations to help his cause.
"In life you do things, and we never know why we do them. One day I was tired of the European society, and I decided to leave everything and go around the world with a bicycle, helping people," said Padros. Donations are used to build homes, roofs, and buy food. You can click here to check up on where Padros is, view pictures, and make a donation.
