A Rottweiler that survived a botched euthanasia has been given a new leash on life.
Matt Olivarez of Redford Township says Mia, an 11-year-old pooch suffering a spinal problem, was back on her feet Sunday, one day after she was taken to a veterinary clinic in Detroit.
Olivarez tells The Detroit News he's been living a scene from the movie, "Pet Sematary," since he returned to his garage and noticed Mia was missing from where he'd placed her Saturday afternoon prior to a scheduled burial.
Olivarez said officials speculated the drug dosage wasn't strong enough or had been watered down.
The 27-year-old Olivarez says he faces foreclosure and can't afford to care for Mia. He says he has neither the heart nor the money to try euthanasia again and hopes to find her a new home.
