The Michigan Tech women's basketball team won a share of the GLIAC North Division title with a 71-58 win over Northern Michigan Saturday (March 2). Three players finished in double digits for the Huskies."I am really for our team ad the seniors," said head coach Kim Cameron. "They were able to reach one their goals, and we are looking forward to continuing this season."The first half was a narrow affair with neither team leading by more than five points. The Huskies enjoyed an 11-4 advantage in made throws in the first half to lead 32-30 at the break.The Huskies took control of the game in the second half opening with a 17-4 run over the first six minutes. NMU would not get within 13 points the remainder of the game. Tech out-scored Northern 39-28 over the final 20 minutes.Freshman Kylie Moxley scored a game-high 20 points shooting 7-of-14 from the field. She grabbed six rebounds, including four offensive, three steals and two assists.Senior Sam Hoyt chipped in 12 points, four assists, two rebounds, two blocks and two steals.Junior Jillian Ritchie finished with 10 points and three steals.Freshman Dani Blake scored eight points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out seven assists with zero turnovers.Tech scored 22 points off of 19 NMU turnovers. The Huskies turned the ball over eight times.Lauren Gruber led the Wildcats with 15 points.Tech (19-7, 17-5) will host Grand Valley in a GLIAC Tournament quarterfinal game Wednesday (March 6).
