      MTU's Ziolkowski earns GLIAC Football Honor

      Michigan Tech's Taylor Ziolkowski has been named GLIAC Football Defensive Player of the Week for the final week of the 2013 regular season. The senior linebacker had a career-high 17 tackles plus the game-clinching interception in Tech's 28-21 win over Wayne State last Saturday (Nov. 16).Ziolkowski, playing in his last game in a Huskies uniform, posted 12 solo tackles including one on a fourth-down play that stopped a Warriors drive in the fourth quarter. The Goodman Wis., native's interception came at the six yard line with 29 seconds left as WSU was threatening to tie the score. The Huskies were able to kneel out the clock after the pick.Ziolkowski, who had four consecutive double-digit tackle games to end his career, finished as Tech's top tackler with 93 stops on the year.The Michigan Tech football team finished its 2013 campaign with a 6-4 record and in fourth place in the GLIAC North Division.
