The Northern Michigan University men's basketball program, under second-year head coach Bill Sall, announced its schedule for the upcoming 2014-15 season Thursday, which features 12 home contests at the Berry Events Center.
"We have a very demanding schedule that will test this team every step of the way," commented Sall. "I am looking forward to seeing the men's basketball team continue to grow in the upcoming season."
NMU opens its schedule playing in the GLVC/GLIAC Challenge at Lewis University Nov. 14-15. The Wildcats play the host Lewis Flyers at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, and face Indianapolis on Saturday, Nov. 15.
Northern Michigan opens its home schedule against Finlandia at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the Berry Events Center before heading on the road for a four game road trip.
The Wildcats open their longest road trip of the season playing in a four-team classic including Michigan Tech, Southwest Minnesota State and Wayne State (Neb.) Nov. 29-30 in Marshall, Minnesota on the campus of Southwest Minnesota State. NMU plays the host Mustangs on Saturday, Nov. 29, and Wayne State (Neb.) on Nov. 30. Game times are TBA.
NMU continues on the road and opens Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference action Thursday, Dec. 4, at Walsh and travels to Malone on Saturday, Dec. 6.
NMU returns to the Berry Events Saturday, Dec. 13, to host Findlay at 3 p.m. and hosts Wayne State at 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, before taking a few weeks off for the holidays.
The Wildcats return to action on Friday, Jan. 2, traveling to Tiffin and play at Ohio Dominican on Sunday, Jan. 4.
NMU returns home for six out of its next eight contests beginning with its longest home stand of the season with Ashland at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, Lake Erie at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, Grand Valley at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, and Ferris State at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17.
The Wildcats travel to Saginaw Valley State for a matchup on Thursday, Jan. 22 and to Hillsdale on Saturday Jan. 24.
NMU returns home to take on Lake Superior State at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, and hosts Northwood at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31.
Northern plays its next three contests on the road traveling to Michigan Tech on Monday, Feb. 2, Grand Valley Thursday, Feb. 5, and Ferris State Saturday, Feb. 5.
NMU returns home for three out of its last five contests hosting Saginaw Valley at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, and Hillsdale at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, before traveling to Lake Superior State and Northwood, Feb. 19 and 21, respectively.
The Wildcats host in-state rival Michigan Tech in their regular-season finale on Thursday, Feb. 26, at 7:30 p.m.
Season tickets for the NMU basketball are on sale now for $78 a seat and include both men's and women's contests for a total of 13 home dates. Single game tickets are on sale for $8 for adults and $6 for 18 and under and seniors 60 and older. The Northern Michigan University women's basketball program, fresh off their 2013-14 GLIAC Tournament Championship and an appearance in the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship, released its schedule for the upcoming 2014-15 season Thursday, which includes 12 home games.
"We have an exciting and very demanding schedule for 2014-15," said NMU head coach Troy Mattson, who enters his 10th season at the helm of the Wildcats program. "It includes an exhibition game versus Butler University and 26 Division II games."
NMU begins competition with an exhibition game at NCAA Division I opponent Butler University on Sunday, Nov. 2 before opening regular season action at the Moorhead State Tournament, facing Minnesota-Crookston at 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, and taking on host Minnesota State-Moorhead at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15.
The Wildcats open their home slate on Sunday, Nov. 23, hosting Concordia-St. Paul at 2 p.m. at the Berry Events Center.
