      NMU Women's Basketball signs three players

      Head women's basketball coach Troy Mattson has announced three signees that will be joining his squad in the 2014-15 season. Chloe Tompkins, Tess Weatherly and Darby Youngstom have signed during the early signing period

      "We are very excited about our early signees. All three players are very big, athletic guards who have the ability score and make plays with the basketball," stated Mattson. "They will add much needed depth at the guard position for the upcoming year and will be impact players in the future."

      Tompkins is a 6-0 point guard from Wales, Wis. She plays at Kettle Moraine High School, where she has averaged 9.1 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game and also named to the all-area team.

      Weatherly, a 6-0 guard is from Howell, Mich. and attends Howell High School. Weatherly averages 10.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. She was named to the first team All-Conference Kensington Lakes Athletic Association and named 2013 All-Livingston County.

      Youngstom is a 5-10 guard from Northwoods High School in Cook, Minn. She averages 23.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 3.2 steals per game. In 2013, she was selected as All-State Honorable Mention and Mesabi Daily News Player of the Year. She's a three-time first team all-conference and all-county selection.
