Cape Cod takes the U19 National Championship 2-1 over the Keweenaw Storm

It felt like a boxing match. Cape Cod threw out the first punch, Keweenaw would answer, but the Storm from Massachusetts would get the knockout punch.

That final blow was courtesy of Madison Haberl. Her two goals helped Cape Cod capture the USA Hockey Girls Tier II U19 National Championship, 2-1 over the Keweenaw Storm.

In the first period, Kelly Ferreira found Haberl for the first goal at the 15:23 mark, and Cape Cod remained in the lead throughout the rest of the period.

Keweenaw broke through early in the second period off a goal by Maybelline Beiring.

Haberl would ice the victory, scoring an even-strength goal 9:42 into the third period.

Keweenaw goalie Stephanie King finished with 19 saves.

They take home the silver medal.
