Taylor Gauthier's two-run single in the fifth inning enabled the Escanaba Junior Softball team to edge LaGrange, IL 3-2 in Central Regional action Tuesday.
The win allows Escanaba to move into the Winner's Bracket Final on Thursday against a team that will be determined Wednesday. Rain postponed the last Loser's Bracket game on Tuesday.
Malary Hiney led off the Escanaba fourth with a single. She later scored on a wild pitch to bring Escanaba within 2-1.
Hannah Eddington earned the win in the circle. She pitched through pain after getting hit by a pitch on the non-throwing hand (left) in the contest. In fact the catcher threw the ball to the first baseman who would hand the ball to Eddington when the bases were empty.
Escanaba needs one more win in the double elimination tournament to advance to the Little Lerague World Series in Kirkland, Washington.
