Brittany Williams has been hired as the new Finlandia Univerisity Softball Head Coach.
â??We are extremely excited to welcome Coach Williams as the new coach for our womenâ??s softball program,â?? said Director of Athletics Chris Salani. â??She is recognized as a â??risingâ?? and energetic coach with both an excellent playing and coaching pedigree; and through our search process, it was evident that Coach Williams will be an excellent fit not only with the womenâ??s softball program, but with our entire Finlandia community. We couldnâ??t be happier to have her accept our opportunity to further develop and enhance our softball program here at Finlandia.â??
Williams comes to Finlandia after serving as the Head Softball Coach (2011-2013) and Assistant Softball Coach (2010-2011) at Pasadena City College in Pasadena, CA. During her time at Pasadena City College, Williams assisted student-athletes in moving to the next level, including three players who went on to play at the Division I level.
Prior to her time at Pasadena City College Williams served as the Assistant Softball Coach at DI Lafayette College in Easton, PA from 2009 to 2010. Brittany has also spent time since 2006 working various camps and clinics, including the USA Preps Mizuno Camp.
Brittanyâ??s playing career includes playing Womenâ??s Open Fastpitch from 2006 to present where she has earned ASA All-American honors in 2007 and 2011. Her team was also the ASA National Champions in 2007. Williamsâ??s collegiate career started with one season at Arkansas Tech University (2004-05) in Russellville, AR. In 2005-06, Williams went back to California and was a member of the softball team at Cypress College where the team was the conference champions as well as the California Junior College State Champions. Brittany wrapped up her collegiate career at Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, CA from 2006 to 2009. At Sonoma State University Williams earned All-CCAA Academic Team honors in 2008 as well as the team was an NCAA DII West Region participant in 2007 and 2009.
Williams earned her bachelorâ??s degree in kinesiology from Sonoma State University in 2009. She also earned a masterâ??s in coaching/athletic administration from Concordia University (Irvine, CA) in 2011.
