Conference alignment has been going on in college athletics recently and now high schools are starting to adpot the change.
In the Copper Country, Houghton high school and Hancock high school are moving from the Lake Superior Hockey Conference (LSHC) to the Great Lakes Hockey Conference (GLHC) in 2013.
According to RRNSports.com, the Gremlins and Bulldogs will now go into the league with Calumet, Marquette, Negaunee, Escanaba, and Kingsford.
Schedule changes will be made next season as Houghton will have to add two games with Escanaba and a second game with Marquette.
Hancock only needs to add a second game with Escanaba.
So next years hockey schedule should look a little different but maybe this will start up some rivalry games across the UP.
