Michigan Tech women's basketball coach Kim Cameron announces the signing of Elisa Jurmu from Houghton, Mich., to a National Letter of Intent.
Jurmu is a 5-9 forward who recently wrapped up her playing career at Houghton High School with 1,048 career points. She was named to the Associated Press Class B All-State Team in 2013-14, BCAM Class C All-State Team in 2012-13, two-time All-UP Dream Team and two-time WestPAC Player of the Year.
"We are thrilled to have Elisa become the newest member of our Husky family," Cameron said. "She has grown up around Michigan Tech basketball and has a great understanding of the tradition. Her work ethic and competitive edge make her an excellent fit."
During the 2013-14 season, Jurmu led her team to an 18-2 overall record for the second year in a row. She averaged 20 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.7 steals and two assists per game while shooting 49 percent from the floor and 82 percent from the free throw line.
Jurmu joins Elizabeth Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis.), Sarah LewAllen (Rochester Hills, Mich.), Hannah Stoll (Lansing, Mich.), and Lindsay Winter (Clare, Mich.) who also committed to play for the Huskies in 2014-15.
Tech is replacing six seniors from this past season's team that went 19-9 overall and 16-6 in the GLIAC.
