      Keweenaw Storm girls' Hockey 2-0 at nationals

      Game Two of pool play at the USA Hockey National Championships saw the Keweenaw Storm Girls 19U hockey team win 7 to 1 over Charles River Blazers (Boston, MA area) Girls 19U hockey team.

      The first goal was scored by the Storm's Selena Stromer (assisted by Rachel Kinnunen) 5 minutes 36 seconds into period one. Megan Yeo scored the Storm's second goal 14 minutes 41 seconds into the first period (assisted by Bailey Raffaelli and Jessica Schlaff).

      Charles River Blazers scored their only goal of the game off a rebound 7 minutes 12 seconds into the second period.

      The Storm answered with goal by Lexi Pyykkonen 13 minutes 4 seconds into the second period (assisted by Jessica Schlaff and MacKenzie Hietala). The Storm dominated the third period play and scored 4 additional goals. Jessica Schlaff scored 37 seconds into period 3 (assisted by Bailey Raffaelli) and again (unassisted) at 3 minutes 4 seconds into the third period. Next, MacKenzie Hietala scored 3 minutes 46 seconds into the third period. At 13 minutes 10 seconds into period 3, Jessica Schlaff scored again to get her third period hat trick (assisted by Allie Patrick and Chelsea Jacques). Stephanie King (Storm goalie) recorded 11 saves on 12 shots.

      The Storm will face the Chazy Lady Flyers (Chazy, NY) at 1 p.m. Eastern time on Friday, April 5 at the Sharks Ice in Fremont, CA (17 miles north of San Jose,CA).
