Local hockey fans wishing to get an early look at Marquette Electricians Midget Major AAA U-18 Hockey Club this coming season can do so this weekend.

The Marquette Electricians, under new head coach Jim Jackson, will be holding their final tryout camp for the 2013-2014 season. The tryout runs this Friday through Sunday at the Berry Events Center on the campus of Northern Michigan in Marquette. The newly branded â??Marquette Electriciansâ?? camp is open to any players between the birth years 1995-1998. â??There have been a number of changes that have been made in past few monthsâ??, said Electricians Chairman Brad Sullivan. "It was important to the program that we take the necessary steps which will enable us to move forward and be competitive. With a new coaching staff in place, we are confident the Midget AAA franchise known throughout the North America will continue developing high quality student athletes." The team will continue to be known as the Marquette Electricians but will no longer be affiliated with the I.B.E.W. Local 1070. This year, the club will be seeking sponsorships opportunities in the form of advertising on their 42 passenger bus, areas of the uniforms, website/Facebook, and on the players warm-up suits. â??This team travels throughout North America, and this will be a great opportunity for local business to increase their exposure," Sullivan stated.
