The Menominee football team will see a familiar opponent in a Division Five Regional Final Saturday. The Maroons will travel to Grand Rapids West Catholic.
The Falcons eliminated the Maroons a year ago 24-20, on their way to an undefeated season and a 2010 State Championship
Menominee just cruised past Grayling 63-22 for a district title over the weekend.
Menominee Coach Ken Hofer knows West Catholic is a tough task.
"Grand Rapids West Catholic is a good football team," says Menominee Coach Ken Hofer. "It should be an interesting game because they're a team that likes to throw the ball similar to what we had today (Saturday). But they also have a diversified running attack. So it's going to be much more different, just to defend one area. We're going to have to defend both areas. I'm sure the kids will get ready and do a good job of it."
Players echoed their coaches respect for the Falcons "They're probably going to be pretty good,"Menominee QB and Co-Captain Tanner Maccoux said. "I mean last year they obviously took us down at the Superior Dome. But they lost a lot of good players. We're rolling right now so it's probably going to be a real good game down there."
"They're going to be a good team," Menominee's Connor LaPlante said. "Last year I thought that we should have beat them. But it will be a good game, good test for us."
Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. eastern, 2 p.m. central time. TV6 plans on gettting the higlhights from this game and showing them on Saturday nights Late News.
