Future Michigan Tech hockey player Jake Jackson was selected in the seventh round of the 2013 NHL Draft today. The Tartan High School (Minn.) product was taken 201st overall by the San Jose Sharks.
Jackson was a finalist for Minnesota's Mr. Hockey award last winter after posting 32 goals and 27 assists for Tartan. The Maplewood, Minn., native signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Michigan Tech last fall. He will likely play the 2013-14 season with the Sioux City Musketeers (USHL) before enrolling at Tech in 2014-15.
Michigan Tech's hockey roster currently includes three NHL draftees: Blake Pietila (5th round, New Jersey, 2011), Jujhar Khaira (3rd round, Edmonton, 2012) and Jamie Phillips (7th round, Winnipeg, 2012).
