Northern Michigan University hockey coach Walt Kyle has announced his captains for the 2013-14 season. Senior defenseman CJ Ludwig is the team captain with junior forward Reed Seckel, senior forward Stephan Vigier and junior defenseman Luke Eibler as the assistants.
"It's a good group of guys," NMU coach Walt Kyle said. "CJ, Reed and Stephan gained a lot of experience in leadership positions last year and they're all equipped to be quality leaders. We have a lot of guys this year and a lot of young guys that can learn from our captains."
Ludwig was an assistant captain last season and enters his senior season with 27 career points on five goals and 22 assists in 107 games. He received the Dallas Drake Defensive Player of the Year and is a two-time recipient of the Tom Laidlaw Best Defenseman Award.
Seckel was an assistant captain last season and has 47 career points on 21 goals and 26 assists in 82 games. He will wear the A at all games.
Eibler joined the Wildcats at the beginning of last season and sat out the season due to transfer rules. He played two seasons at Northeastern University before coming to Marquette. Eibler played in 53 games for the Huskies recording three goals, 13 assists along with a plus 18. He will wear the A on the road.
Vigier was an assistant captain last season. He enters his final season at NMU with 59 career points on 23 goals and 36 assists in 113 games. He has scored 10 power play goals. Vigier will wear the A at home.
The Wildcats kickoff the 2013-14 season with a pair of exhibition games on Oct. 5-6.
