      NMU sends three to Track and Field Nationals

      Three members of the Northern Michigan University track & field team have been selected to compete at the 2014 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

      Senior Cheyenne Stewart will participate in the triple jump, junior Christina Toogood will compete in the 1,500 meter run and freshman Jasmine Williams will compete in the discus.

      Stewart enters the field with a mark of 12.29m. Stewart was an All-American during indoor season in the triple jump and won both the indoor and outdoor triple jump at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference Championships.

      Toogood earned her spot in the NCAA Championships after winning the 1,500 meter run at the GLIAC Outdoor Championships with a time of 4:31.54. Toogood was also an All-American during indoor season in the 800 meter run.

      Williams posted her qualifying mark at the Al Owens Classic where she finished second with a throw of 46.50 meters.

      The 2014 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be hosted at Grand Valley State University May 22-24.
