      NMU track & field lands 15 on GLIAC All-Academic Teams

      Fifteen members of the Northern Michigan University track and field team were honored as members of the 2014 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic and All-Academic Excellence teams the league announced Monday.

      To be eligible for the award a student-athlete must be an active member of the team's roster at the conclusion of the season and must have a 3.0-3.49 grade point average to be a member of the All-Academic team and have above a 3.5 GPA to be honored as a member of the All-Academic Excellence team.

      Wildcat senior Sydney Schultz (Biology & Physiology/Appleton, Wis.) was honored as a member of the All-Academic team.

      Junior Emily Allen (Biology & Physiology/Ravenna, Mich.), sophomore Jaylee Brown (Community Health Education/Onekama, Mich.), freshman Xavier Donajkowski (Environmental Science/Hubbard Lake, Mich.), junior Chelsea Farquhar (Nursing/Lansing, Mich.), freshman Shannon Flynn (Athletic Training/Canton, Mich.), junior Larissa Halonen (Nursing/Delano, Mich.), junior Olivia Howard (Social Work/Muskegon, Mich.), freshman Samanthia Johnson (Zoology/Kingston, Jamaica), junior Caitlin Keskey (Clinical Health Science/Cokato, Minn.), freshman Abby Roche (Public Relations/Fargo, N.D.), senior Cheyenne Stewart (Earth Science, St. Michael, Barbados), sophomore Catherine Swiderski (Sports Science/Lansing, Mich.), junior Christina Toogood (English/Stavanger, Norway) and junior Brittni Wirtz (Nursing/Sobieski, Wis.) were named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence team.
