NMU track and field opens outdoor season at Raleigh Relays

After a strong indoor season, the Northern Michigan University track and field team looks to continue its success in their outdoor campaign. The Wildcats open their outdoor season this weekend (March 28-29) at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C.

The Wildcats were also scheduled to compete at St. Norbert Opener but the event was canceled due to poor field conditions.

"We are looking to take the same energy, excitement and confidence from indoor season and carry it into the outdoor season," said head coach Cheree Hicks.

Senior Cheyenne Stewart and juniors Christina Toogood and Brittni Wirtz will be competing for the Wildcats at the Raleigh Relays.

Toogood and Stewart both enter the outdoor season after capturing All-American honors at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Following this weekend, the Wildcats travel to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Opener April 5.
