Next time you want to see a hockey game, why not check out the NMU Women's Club Hockey team?
The 15 ladies that make up the intramural team practice twice a week. They play against schools from Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio and Illinois. The club was established in 2000 and is part of the Central Collegiate Women's Hockey Association.
Any full-time NMU student can join the team, and you don't even have to be an experienced skater to get out there and hit the puck.
"It's a good way to meet people coming in as a freshman; you meet a bunch of girls and you stick with them for pretty much the four years that you're here," said club member Sarah Simmons.
"You don't have to know how to play, we'll teach you how to play, and it's really fun. Everyone has a lot of fun with it."
The ladies are keeping busy with their schedule. On Sunday they played against Central Michigan at the Berry Events Center on campus.
