Northern Michigan University senior Cheyenne Stewart earned All-American status with an eighth-place finish in the triple jump at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships Friday.
Stewart broke the NMU school record with a mark of 41-7 in the event improving on her qualifying mark by over a foot. Stewart was also an All-American in the triple jump during indoor season.
NMU freshman Jasmine Williams also competed in the discus, but fouled on her attempts. Christina Toogood finished 14th Thursday in the 1,500 run and missed qualifying for the Saturday final by less than one second. But she broke a school record in the process with a time of 4:31.09.
