Gladstone's Jordan Ives just won the biggest prize of his career.
The 16-year-old stock car driver won the $50,000 grand prize from the "Search for a Champion" contest sponsored by Champion Spark Plugs.
Out of 400 entries, Ives was one of 15 finalists up for the sponsorship money.
Ives plans to use the money to pay for race fuel, transportation to and from certain races, and to maintain his race car.
"We'll be able to get through about half the year on this," Ives told rrnsports.com. "It's just going to help us so much with racing some tracks that we never got to race before, and probably wouldn't be able to this year without it."
Coming from a racing family, Ives started racing at the age of four.
When he was just fourteen, he became rookie of the year and was named the youngest drive to race late-model cars at Norway Speedway.
