AURORA , Ill. ?? The Michigan Tech volleyball team wrapped up play at the sixth annual GLIAC/GLVC Crossover Tournament on Saturday (Oct. 26) with a 3-1 win over Illinois Springfield from the Great Lakes Center. The Huskies won with set scores 25-16, 25-19, 10-25 and 25-16 and improve to 9-14 overall.
"Today was just about a 180-degree difference from yesterday," Tech coach Matt Jennings said. "While we slipped up in the third, the three sets we won were very balanced and well executed."
"Kendall absolutely dominated for most of the match on the outside and Sylvie controlled the middle," Jennings said.
"Jackie was great from start to finish," added Jennings. "I'm also proud of Maddie and Jordanna Kero and the way they brought their game and leadership onto the court today."
Illinois Springfield (7-15) was led by Ashley Beaton with 11 kills. JoAnna Hoffman had 26 assists and Katie Katarzynski had 18 digs.
The GLVC captured its fourth-straight title at the Crossover. For the first time in event history, the two conferences tied overall, 24-24. The GLVC was determined the winner following a set-record tiebreak, which saw the GLVC win 89 of the 173 sets played over the past two days compared to the GLIAC's 84 set victories.
The Huskies wrap up the home portion of the schedule next weekend, hosting Ferris State on Friday (Nov. 1) at 7 p.m. and Grand Valley State on Saturday (Nov. 2) at 4 p.m. Tech's four seniors will be honored on Saturday.
