Four Upper Peninsula athletes recently earned scholarships from the Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame. Each recipient will get $500 in each of the next four years.
Saint Ignace's Sarah Cullip will attend Grand Valley State. She's been a member of a state champion girls basketball team, but she'll concentrate on cross country running and/or track with the Lakers.
Calumet's Tara Kiilunen has also excelled in track and is a four-time U.P. Division One cross country champion. Kiilunen is undecided about her college choice.
Manistique's Kenner Broullire will attend West Point Military Academy where he hopes to run track. He's a U.P. Division One record holder in the 300 hurdles and has played football.
Chassell's Ross Michaels has been a sprinter at Chassell, played football at Hancock, and played hockey at Jeffers. Michaels plans include Michigan Tech and football.
